Cat, thank you for the kind words. You have no idea how excited I was when we reconnected. You have a true artist's touch when quilting and my quilt top was just a top until you did the quilting. It turned out so beautiful, it makes my heart skip a beat! This will be one that will be treasured for many generations, my friend. :)

I wholeheartedly agree, Dana! Although my little girl is now grown up and has traded in those smocked dresses for surgical scrubs in the OR, the dresses still look like new. I remember saving up to buy a beautiful piece of Swiss batiste and 100% cotton lace for an Easter dress. It was well worth it! I now feel the same way about my quilts.

This reminds me of our smocking days, Cathy! I always told my students that they should use the highest quality fabric they could afford. Whether you are making a special garment or a quilt, the quality of the materials should equal your efforts. You put so much of yourself into making the item and if quality materials are used, it really shows off your work. As an added bonus, the high quality fabrics make your construction or piecing go much smoother. Also, years from now, your quilt will look like new, even if it has been washed many times.

You're welcome! I wholeheartedly agree about buying the best fabric for most quilts. A quilt is often an heirloom for our family members or close friends, and we want it to last through the years.

Just when I think my sewing area is organized I find a blog with perfectly matching boxes, baskets, and so forth and think gee that would be nice. Your friends quote about not perfection is wonderful.
