Patriotic Parade and Little Red Cross

Ideal for doll quilts or home accents, these heartwarming small quilts are reminiscent of those crafted during the WWI era. Red Cross quilts were made as fundraisers for the war effort, and the Stars & Stripes were proudly displayed in many different quilt designs.

Supplies

Yardages are based on 42”-wide, 100% cotton fabrics.

The Little Red Cross Quilt

(Finished Size: Approx. 16 ½” x 20 ½”)

  • 1/4 yd. or a fat quarter of a red solid (Red Cross)
  • 1/8 yd. or fat quarter of tiny red & white print (background for Red Cross)
  • (20) scraps of assorted, small prints for setting triangles around the Red Crosses,  (each scrap should measure at least 4 “ square)
  • 1 fat quarter red & white striped fabric (setting squares and triangles)
  • 5/8 yd. red print for border (allows for borders to be cut on the lengthwise grain)
  • 3/4 yd. backing fabric and single thickness binding (allows for backing to be cut on the lengthwise grain)
  • 1 package crib sized batting

Patriotic Parade

(Finished Size: Approx. 16 ¼” x 20 ½”)

  • 1/8 yd. navy, medium star print (block centers and border cornerstones)
  • 1 fat quarter navy, small star print (star points in Ohio Star block and corners in Nine Patch Variation block.)
  • 1 fat quarter red patriotic print (stripes in Nine Patch Variation block and borders)
  • 5/8 yd. cream or tan patriotic background print (star background in Ohio Star block, stripes in Nine Patch Variation block, setting triangles, and borders)
  • 3/4 yd. backing fabric (allows for backing to be cut on the lengthwise grain)
  • 1/8 yd. binding fabric (for single thickness binding)
  • 1 package crib sized batting
