Sea Jewels

This batik beauty glows with the brilliant jewel tones of the sea. Simple piecing techniques are used to assemble the fish and chain blocks, making this a fun, easy project.

Supplies

Yardages are based on 42” wide, 100% cotton fabric.
  • 1-3/8 yds. Ocean-colored batik  (Background fabric)
  • 7/8 yd. Teal batik (Chain fabric and binding)
  • 5/8 yd. Blue batik (Chain fabric and narrow inner border)
  • 1- 5/8 yd. Coordinating batik (Outer border)
  • (6) Fat quarters brightly colored batiks – (Each fat quarter makes 2 fish and a portion of the colorful block border.)
  • 1/8 yd. Large polka dot fabric (Fish eyes)
  • 3-½ yd. Backing fabric
  • ¼ yd. fusible web (Eye appliqués)
